The staff here was nice, they were even apologetic over the owners’ actions, apparently this is nothing new to them. I have owned several businesses and I would never think to treat a customer in this way. This owner needs to learn to treat people with respect. We are all adults. I am a teacher at a Christian school – I had every intention of going right back up to the office. Her actions were completely uncalled for and it was all over a mis-communication and the staff giving us the wrong color tag when we originally checked in. On our way home I read the reviews on various sites – many other people have experienced her wrath and she has a reputation of being like a prison guard….what a shame. I will pray for her to find peace with herself - you must love yourself before you can show others love and respect.
We have been coming here for 5years now and each time we have a blast. There is plenty of river front to enjoy and given that we were there for the 4th of July holiday, I expected to have a tough time finding water areas to enjoy but that was not the case. I just wish check-in was quicker.
As I was getting out of my truck, the owner came speeding up behind me, slammed on the brakes, jumped out of the car, slammed the door and immediately started screaming at me, “I told you to go to the office right now!” I told her that we are going to the office – I wanted to get my husband to take care of it. She continued to scream uncontrollably telling me that if I had told her that I needed to have a conversation with my husband first that I had to let her know that. She said that I was breaking the rules.
What a disappointment. My family went to Camp Riverview with a large group and we were having a wonderful family weekend, until the owner Melissa Cummings ruined it for everyone. Our group was in a section of sites that were paid for through Monday. On Sunday at 12:40 as we were on our way to the river (yes, you have to drive to get to the river…the spots are quite far), the owners stopped our vehicle. She said that our tag indicated that we had to be out Sunday by noon. I informed her that we had our campsite until Monday. She called to the office and they confirmed that we have our site until Monday. She asked me to go to the office to get a new tag. I told her that I would go. I had my teenage son and my two small dogs with me, so we continued the 50 yards left to the river so that I could leave them off and get my husband. He had checked us into the site, so I knew it would be best for him to go take care of the mix-up.
Great place to stay great staff. Great river front been coming here for years cabins are extermly clean, cool and well stocked with plates coffee cups etc. Fridge is clean microwave is clean everything is in working conditions. Love the rules here truly believe without rules you have No order with out Order you have nothing. We have watched the kids grow up here and always a pleasure to come back every summer and see that the little brother and sister have grown a year older.of course they may not know us due to all the faces they must see but it makes us smile to see them and they work so hard.
Amazing experience all around!!! From the amazing views, clean campgrounds, and wonderful staff to the new clean restrooms and prime location, Camp Riverview earned their 5 stars! During and extremely bad thunderstorm staff members made sure we were safe and were very helpful in setting us up with alternate arrangements. We were able to launch our tubes and kayaks directly from the bank which was very convenient. I would certainly recommend this place to others and we will definitely be returning!
The fairly close location to Garner and the river access were the only nice things about this place. We arrived at about 10am for early check and paid the full amount due right then. I knew that check-in wasn't until 4pm but figured they had enough common sense to move the cabin they were putting us in up the list for cleaning. That was my first mistake. Finally, at 4:30 the 2 bed room cabin (shack) was ready, they didn't even start cleaning it until 4pm We had family members at several camp sites on the property, so we just hung out with them, no biggie. However, I had already had several interactions with the staff and each time, I was polite and they were rude. They had rules posted all over the place, you had to stop at the gate every time you reentered and they said the same thing every time, not how are you today, good afternoon, no..no it's, "5MPH and no music past 10:30" over and over and over...the staff were like prison wardens, riding around on their golf carts constantly harassing guest about the most minor things. By the end of my 4 days/ 3nights stay, I was ready to rip into one of them. I went there excited, in a good mood but because of the despicable accommodations and overly rude and aggressive staff, I left upset and tired. We stayed in a 2 bed room cabin C6, it was a real shack, raw OSB board for walls/ ceilings, 12" T.V., raggedy furniture, no a/c in restroom, toilet that clogs every other use, place smelled of vinegar, the beds were decrepit and uncomfortable. The beds were placed near the window with the cheapest curtains that allowed the light to come in at sunrise. The shack was located directly across from a ginormous maintenance building (that was our view), no shade trees, just a small 2ft. $10 tree recently planted, it will probably take 20 years to provide any type of shade. The sad part is this place could really be something special, however, the way it is managed, it probably never will. It will instead continue to attract a crowd that requires prison wardens to keep order. Needless to say, for my family and I, we will not stay there again unless things undergo some serious changes.
This is a great place....
By this time my husband and friend heard the encounter and came to see what was wrong. My husband engaged in conversation with her husband, since he seemed calm. She continued to yell, saying that we are breaking the rules and refusing to go to the office. He calmly held his hand up and said, “I would like to speak to him”. She screamed at him that he had put his finger in her face and she was going to call the police! Her husband recognized that she was being unreasonable and asked her to go to the truck. She complied, but returned after only a few seconds. She pushed her husband back telling him that he had to back her up on this. She continued with her barrage of words, waving her finger at me and asked me “when you ask your kids to do something right now, do you expect them to do something else first?” Was she really serious? She just admitted that she was talking to us like children.
