I find it very unprofessional and a little disrespectful that a Manager was not the one informing me of the why my dog was not welcome. The hostess was uncomfortable and not fully informed. And as someone who has been a manager, I have an understanding of how a guest should be treated. I can say I was less than satisfied and actually embarrassed. And I will never return to Neal's for any services they may offer.
Best place ever! They treat you well and appreciate you being there. I personally recommend Neal’s overall. Our family has been going there for over 50 years, and the tradition continues. Kudos to their staff and accommodations. First class.
Well Lexi and I thought it would be a great idea to go for a walk to Neal's, and then sit in the back patio and eat! My friend had informed me that they were dog friendly. But they are in fact, NOT DOG friendly here. When we got there we went to the back, sat for sometime and we were never greeted. So I walked in to get a menu, then walked back outside. Still not having been greeted. Finally an employee came out who I thought was a waitress. But was instead the hostess. Who stated that my dog was not allowed in the back. And that they had had an incident before. And then proceeded to inform me that if I wanted to stay my dog must be put out front. But if my dog was in a cage we could stay in the back. (Who takes their dog in a kennel to an outside patio to relax?) Anyway, I kindly asked her if we could both just sit in the front and eat. Which she said yes to. So we walk to the front. Sit for a moment, then she comes out again. This time saying that actually no dogs are allowed at all. And that my dog must leave basically. And that I could get my food to go.I kindly asked if my dog Lexi could at least have some water before we left. Seeing as by this time we are both hot and thirsty. She then brought her water. Then as lexi and I were leaving she came back out and asked if I wanted to order anything to go. Which I replied no and was on our way.
Let me start by saying these campsites are spectacular. Right on the river, great views and access to the river. Relatively clean. Now for the years and years my family has been coming here we have seen some changes. For one the rates. I understand a private establishment can charge what they wish but I will tell you your rates for tent camping are making my family and I look into other options. It is ridiculous to pay 50 bucks a night for a tent site. With 20 bucks extra a head over allotment of people per site. I understand 20, 30, even 40 during peak. Off season still 50 bucks? How? Your cancellation policy being 30 days in advance and no refunds over natural disaster. If the river floods not only would our vacation be ruined but our money be taken for facilities we never used. Why? The bathrooms need to be upgraded. Please put a sink in The bathroom under The slide so someone can wash there hands and be sanitary. The men and woman restroom need a remodel. One toilet for mens not well maintained men's. You can remodel the whole bathroom for cheap. Please neals owner revisit your rates sheet and think about your bathroom for guest comfort.
My family and I recently had to leave Corpus Christi, TX, because of Hurricane Harvey. I booked a cabin with Neal's Lodges, Thea and her staff did an outstanding job in making me and my family feel at ease, during this crazy time. I was called back to Kingsville, because I am part of the Texas Army National Guard and had to leave my family cause my unit was activated, so I went to talk to Thea and her staff they were so understanding and supportive.............. I just wanted to express my gratitude and thanks to them all......Thank you guys so much.........I will recommend all my soldiers and family and friends to visit and stay with Neal's Lodges....................
My family have stayed here nearly every summer since before I was born. I would highly recommend it to anyone! They even helped me set up the perfect proposal at a near by horse ranch!!! She said yes! ;)
