It would have been a nice visit but we were disappointed in the service and will not come back here or recommend anyone here.
Disappointed in the customer service provided by the place. My family of 4 adults and 2 children (7 year old and 2 year old) booked one cottage and arrived the day after Thanksgiving. Keys to 2 cottages were given to us but we went in the one we booked and found out there was no hot water! The water was so cold that we had to boil water for use for the kids. We went over to the second cottage and there was hot water so that was the only reason we used it. The next day we talked to management and they said we booked two cottages even though we only received one email confirmation for one cottage, and made us pay for both, even after we explained there was no hot water in the one we booked. We didn't want to argue so agreed to pay for both the same night.
We LOVE River Bend and have been coming for about 40 years straight! They have changed the rules for this year and no tents are allowed but they have upgraded all sites for higher amp outlets so you can run your A/C now when camped along the river. This is a BEAUTIFUL campground and if I had the money or could be in a group with enough, I would buy it in a heartbeat! Bring your family and enjoy the hospitality and beauty of River Bend on the Frio.
We came back later that evening to see a message from management saying it was a online reservation error and we can use the other cottage as well at no additional cost. That was nice even though I would prefer not to have paid for what I didn't want and to have hot water. The most frustrating thing was even after they said they would fix the hot water in the cottage, we came back to still ice cold water!!! I don't know why we had to pay for this type of service if the basic water need was not met. Especially when we have two little kids and having hot water for them was necessary.
Interesting place. Looks closed from the main street but it is open. Has great access to frio river without the garner crowd. Very quiet and not many campers...perfect for a late november get away. Clean restrooms and nice scenic place And just an fyi. ..no wi fi access unless you are in camp store or its porch area or have att provider.
Awesome place! Lots of options for enjoying the Frio River.
We have come here for years as a family. Great place for tent camping. Cabin rentals are also nice, especially during bad weather. Great swimming area for the kids. River float south from FM 1120 to this camping ground is about one and a half hours on good flowing water.
