We didn't rent from them, but did rent from Buchan whom shares the same river access as the landing who is with frio man and it was absolutely horrible the people don't know what they are doing the charge 20 to enter and they told us they were full so we couldn't park, then right after let another through "saying they were just looking for someone to leave" that was a lie as we saw the car park and get out but since we had our wrist bands to get in they didn't want to let us through so they could get money. they are very unprofessional. Then on top of this you can not cook, bring animals, and you have to have all of your belongings and car out of "their lot" by 7 if not they will come and tell you to leave.

Just got back from our first family vacation ever at the Rustic Retreat. That home is better than any cabin I've ever seen. We rented tubes at Frio country store and asked the girl there if there was anything hazardous on that 2nd crossing and she said no. We then proceeded to the Frio river with 4 adults, 2 elderly and 3 kids. HUGE mistake! What I should have done was ask Dickie the manager at Frioman lodging first. That tube run is not suitable at all for children or inexperienced riders. The first fall was devastating for our group, everyone fell off and 1/2 were injured. We had to get off the river and walk the bank for 1 mile till we saw a property with a road. We called Dickie while down at the river for help and he stayed on the phone with my husband for over 15 minutes, but it was hard to recognize where we were. He did mention to not go up to the private properties though. All in all we will go back but never again to the 2nd crossing. Dickie called us later that evening to make sure we got back okay. The house itself was really comfortable, just wanted to warn other families. The house provides everything for bbq, roasting marshmallows, and relaxing.

i was asking about the age to rent a cabin and the lady who I spoke with was extremely rude. She told me to check the website again and went on to say rude things about people under 23 who tried to rent cabins. She said all we do is "get drunk and run up the credit card bill". I thought it was completely rude and unprofessional to categorize and assume things when she hadn't even spoken to me for more than 5 minutes.

My family had a vacation scheduled for 4 nights in June 2017, and the day before we left I had to have an emergency appendectomy. We had pre-paid $1600.00 and I can't even get the owners to call me back! Said we might be able to reschedule, but can't talk to owners to try that!

Great Cabins, ours unfortunately was damaged in multiple places, from doors, shutters, tables, chairs, tile, windows, door handles... that's from what i can remember. Some appliances didn't work, including some lights and the drainage was clogged. If you turned the faucet on lightly to just brush your teeth, the sink would fill up with water, we rented a big cabin to hold multiple families yet they would only give us one key which became problematic. With all that in mind, the price wasn't reduced even though the service and experience was not up to the expectations. I also had a bad experience with the people who ran the office. They treated us with no respect and actually told us to wait outside even though it was a bit too warm to sit comfortably in the sun. We had arrived a little earlier than the rest of our family and just before the scheduled check in and thought we could wait in their office till it was time, ( it was four of us). I thought wrong and was blindsided by how rude the man talked to me and seemed to look at us with prejudice. ( They told us, young adults like myself, had trashed another cabin they had) Although i can understand if they were skeptical on our apparent age, I don't think that should lead to treating other customers with apparent disdain. If you do decide to choose this place for your vacation lodging i hope your experience is better than mine.
